Salary and unemployment rate, by college major

Georgetown’s recent survey provides insight into the salary and unemployment prospects by college major.  Here’s what we learned: if you major in nursing you will definitely find a job (2.2% unemployment).  Also, the study basically confirms what we already know; business, engineering, and computer related majors enjoy the highest wages.  Below are the top twenty five.  For a complete list, click here. A summer internship is the best way to break into investment banking

You want to get here your Junior year.

As an instructor, I have increasingly seen my full-time analyst training classes filled with familiar faces – the prior year’s summer interns.  Over the last several years, our clients have made a concerted effort to offer full-time positions to high-performing  summer interns.  While offering full-time positions to summer interns is by no means a new phenomenon in banking, it does appear to be more institutionalized than it used to be, as recruiters look to streamline their on campus recruiting programs.
