The all-in comp is comprised of a base and bonus component:
- Base Salary: $300,000 to $350,000
- Bonus: $400,000 to $600,000
The above bonus ranges represent average figures typical at bulge bracket and elite boutique banks located in the U.S., so directors at regional middle-market banks should expect lower amounts.
The bonus received is based on individual, group, and firm performance – a recurring theme in the investment banking compensation structure.
Directors are almost at the top of the food chain in investment banking, sitting above vice presidents (VPs) but directly below managing directors (MDs).
